Developing a brand-new website for Firemen's Federal Credit Union

About the project

Firemen's Federal Credit Union serves more than 28,000 members across Louisiana and Mississippi, providing innovative solutions and services as a CDFI that's deeply embedded in their communities.

Firemen's Federal partnered with Mission Brands Consulting from March through June of 2026 to develop a new website as part of our wider marketing partnership.

Creating a new website included everything from refreshed branding and custom page designs to full site taxonomy, copywriting and SEO considerations. And the project continues beyond the website launch with ongoing support and embedded partnership within the Firemen's team.

The result is a modern, beautiful and easy-to-navigate website that better represents the Firemen's Federal brand and supports their long-term plans for growth.

The challenge

The Firemen's Federal website hadn't been updated in a few years, but beyond the dated styling was the bigger problem that the website simply wasn't serving the needs of the credit union or its members. With a clear lack of product information, the website did little to inform or convert - the two main goals of any credit union's digital presence.

The Mission Brands team was tapped to:

Tell the credit union's story

The credit union does incredible work in the community and needed a dedicated space to showcase its mission and impact.

Make life easier for members

It was crucial to surface full product details, along with easy navigation and clear next steps, so members can make confident financial decisions.

Support long-term growth

Developing a scalable content structure means the website can grow alongside the business and support future marketing efforts.

"We are HUGE fans of Mission Brands! They take the time to understand who you are and how you serve your members through an individualized approach instead of generic marketing campaigns. Our new website is beyond our expectations, and the entire process went so smoothly. We couldn't be happier!"

Our approach

The Mission Brands team led the entire website project, including site design, content strategy and technical implementation. The Firemen's Federal team collaborated on product information, third-party credentialing, and compliance. Throughout the process, key stakeholders provided design feedback and were kept in the loop on time frames and progress.

Phase 1: Discovery and planning

We started by establishing key goals and desired outcomes as well as a realistic time frame for site completion.

Discovery work included an audit of the current site as well as the credit union itself to understand what was working well and where the opportunities were.

Phase 2: Design, writing and staging

The next phase was heads-down time for Mission Brands, including:

  • Designing custom templates for the new site, including small but impactful brand tweaks
  • Auditing all products and services and determining the menu structure
  • Writing all new copy across more than 60 webpages
  • Building the templates, refining copy and choosing imagery and icons
Phase 3: Review and compliance

Mission Brands worked closely with legal, compliance and the Firemen's C-suite to ensure full compliance, while advocating for essential changes to ensure website performance wasn't compromised.

Phase 4: Launch and support

Mission Brands delivered marketing and communications support to gain buy-in of members and staff, as well as full CMS training for specific employees. We also provided (and continue to provide) ongoing technical support for any staff questions or update requests.

Outcomes and impact

The website launched on time and instantly established a new foundation for the Firemen's Federal brand and future.

Single source of truth

The Firemen's team was weighed down by legacy products and contradicting details. The new website offered the chance to clean house, establish which products are on offer and what the correct details are.

Strong storytelling

Through clear content strategy, structure and copywriting, Firemen's is now showcasing their mission to the world, including their charitable efforts and clarifying who can join the CU (hint: it's not just for firefighters).

High performing

Their new, modern website includes the highest standards and performance for ADA compliance, mobile responsiveness, and SEO – all of which is monitored, updated and maintained on an ongoing basis by Mission Brands.

Team collaboration

Mission Brands works as an extension of the Firemen's team, which included website training for branch staff and leadership. The website project offered the chance to build culture and boost employee engagement across teams.

Responsive design for better scrolling on all screen sizes
